If the slew of recent awards is any indication, people seem to love Red Hook Lobster Pound (we certainly do!) The good folk at RHLP have noticed and they’re making it even easier for you to get your lobster rolls. As Village Voice reported here, RHLP will be adding about 40 seats to its flagship location on Van Brunt Street by mid-August. No need to wait the agonizing few minutes before eating your rolls, now you can dive in immediately.
Bino Brooklyn (née Po) not only does delivery now, they’re also serving lunch Wednesday through Sunday. They’re open noon to 3:30 Wed – Fri and 11:30 to 4:00 on Sat and Sun. So if you can’t get through your afternoon without craving their meatballs (we feel your pain), stop on over and owners Sarah and Jonathan will hook you up!
Brooklyn already has a well-established microbrewery scene, but the micro-distillery scene is on its way up. Enter Breuckelen Distilling Co, which now offers locally-crafted gin at three Brooklyn locations: Thirst Wine Merchants (Ft. Greene), Dry Dock Wine & Spirits (Red Hook), and UVA Wines and Spirits (Williamsburg). You can get a free taste on Wednesday, August 4th at Thirst from 6-9 pm (187 DeKalb Avenue). Cheers, guvnah!
As we mentioned before, our friends at SCRATCHbread are raising money and they need your help! They’re looking to raise $25 – $50k over the next few months to expand the current operation and help get their incredible bread and baked goods out in our community. Founder/baker/visionary Matt Tilden infuses his baking with a rare blend of talent and passion (and choice flour), and anyone who’s tried his masterpieces can tell. We are huge supporters of SCRATCHbread because of both the phenomenal products they make and their dedication to making food the right way (from scratch!) If you have any money to donate to the cause (every dollar counts!) please go to Kickstarter here to learn more about Matt and his vision.
