Still looking for a CSA to tap this summer? We’ve learned of a new one offering all kinds of produce and herbs for pickup in Williamsburg this season, and it’s got the added fun factor of featuring the bounty of an almost-unpronouncable farm (Nedefonedrag Farm), from an even more unprounceable place (Poughquag)!
Nedefonedrag is a small practicing organic farm in upstate New York. They’ll be delivering each week’s harvest all summer long to Red Rose and Lavender in Williamsburg.
Here’s a blurb from the founder, Tierney Dearing:
Nedefonedrag (neddy.phone.drag) Farm is a sustainable, practicing organic farm in Dutchess County offering a CSA pick up in Brooklyn! Organic produce and herb shares are available, 9-12 pounds of fresh produce and herbs; $650 for a full share, $375 for a half share. We also have organic flower shares, a beautiful bouquet of assorted flowers; a full share for $195, a half share for $110. The location is at the wonderful Rose Red and Lavender, 653 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11211, Sundays from 3-5, June 12-October 23.
We will also be offering canned goods, bitters, and infused alcohols in the fall.
Visit us online at nfdfarm.com for more details and to become a member. Thank you for making small organic, sustainable farms possible, we couldn’t do it without you!
The Nede crew also offers their growing schedule here so you can get a sense of what you’ll have to look forward to each week.
We’ve heard rumors that if you click your heels while chanting ‘Nedephonedrag Poughquag’ as fast as you can ten times in row, you just might be magically transported to their blooming fields upstate. If it doesn’t work, we recommend that you just join the CSA. Try it and let us know!
Let us know in the comments if there are any other CSA’s you recommend, Brooklyn, and we’ll be sure to pass along the deets…
