plovgh

Plovgh is an online marketplace where farms sell their harvest directly to people. An alternative CSA. A neighborhood farm stand. Farmers post their harvests on Plovgh. You choose the crops you want and place your order. A farmer delivers your order to your neighborhood for you to pick up. Eat what you want to eat, directly from the farm. As a friend said, it's a CSA without the punishing commitment. We are headquartered at Dekalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn, just across from the farm.

Organizers are getting Plovgh Pickup Points started in neighborhoods like Bed-Stuy, Jackson Heights, and Long Island City. Tell them that you want them! The sooner those neighborhoods get to critical mass, the sooner the farms can connect with them. Place your vote!

Farmers markets have given lots of small, young farms an excellent starting point. As the dispersion of markets takes farmers away from the field, it’s time to build something new while still keeping farms and communities connected.

    Goat systems thinking
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/22/us/city-grazing.html
Plovgh already had an affinity for goats (in part because Lizzy once read Goat Song and was enthralled). This story about their participation in urban systems just stepped up the intrigue.
