  Hey girls! Monday the 21st I’ll be teaching a candymaking workshop at 3pm at Gowanus Girls and Curious Jane’s ”Make it, Take it” event. You’ll get to cut and wrap salted soft chocolates (vegan-friendly), package them, and take them home along with a recipe. There’s also dumpling-making, fabric-dyeing, card-making and more – come on by!

  Sale Highlight of the Day: Sweet Potato-Black Pepper caramels. We’ve never made anything like this before, folks: we roasted whole sweet potatoes, skinned and puréed them, then put them in a caramel with a little honey, a little butter, and a touch of fresh-ground black pepper.   So, I know that Jess had some problems – but we do appreciate constructive criticism, and this piece does a great job pointing out some of the common snags you can come across while making candy (especially the lollipops – the simple plastic candy funnels are the best)! Not to mention the recipes that turned out great :) it’s been 50/50 on the Sea Salt recipe so far, so we may need to do a little tweaking…but just to reiterate, if you have cookbook-related issues, email us! We want to hear about ’em!
