CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and it allows city residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers.
Here at Carroll Gardens CSA we partner with Garden of Eve Farm in Riverhead, NY. During the spring, each CSA member purchases a "share" of the farm's produce. This early payment enables our farmer to plan for the season, purchase new seed, make equipment repairs, etc. Our CSA is all volunteer run and all members are expected to volunteer their time at distributions to ensure the CSA operates smoothly. CSA members receive weekly distribution of fresh, organic, local vegetables. We also offer fruit, egg and flower shares for members who are interested in getting more.
The season begins on June 9th and ends on November 17th.

Our CSA is all volunteer-run and all members are expected to work at least one shift at distributions per half-share (full share members work 2 shifts) to ensure that our CSA operates smoothly. You can schedule your work shift day by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
On your work shift day, please arrive at the Transit Garden by 9:15. One of the core group member will meet you there to open up the garden. You can expect to finish up between 12:30 and 1pm. Please note, The Transit Gardeners have generously allowed the CSA to use their space for our distributions; please ensure that everything is left as you found it!
Here are few details to help you understand what the work shift entails:
1. Set up the garden for pickup, including tent and tables.
2. Help the farmers unload the truck when they arrive.
3. Run the sign-in station at the garden entrance as members arrive for pickup.
4. Let members know what the share for the week is, how much of each item to take, and stowing empty produce crates.
5. Help organize the left overs for donation.
6. Clean up the garden and restore it to its original state.
Carroll Gardens CSA pick ups are on Saturdays from 10am-12pm.
Our distribution location is at the Transit Garden on the corner of Smith St and 2nd Pl.
