Cafe Ghia is a cozy European style café in the heart of Bushwick Brooklyn. The focus of the menu is local and seasonal brunch, sandwiches and nightly dinner specials as well as coffee + tea and a curated selection of wine and rotating draft and bottled beer. The Café is open every day from 10AM-1AM for brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks and dessert. Chef Cara Baker was raised in Kentucky and completed her culinary training at Chicago's Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Cara then cooked at acclaimed restaurant and dessert bar Hot Chocolate where she honed an appreciation for local sourcing and the integrity of ingredients. Cara's next move was to Washington, DC as sous chef and buyer for Restaurant Nora (America's first certified organic restaurant), where she fostered relationships with regional farms and producers and nurtured her own passion for organic farming. This led her to seek out an apprenticeship at Bobolink Dairy and Bakeyard in New Jersey, where she lived for a year and trained in all aspects of small scale, grass-based dairy farming, artisanal cheese making and bread baking. Cara's next adventure brings her to Brooklyn, New York and we are thrilled to welcome her to Café Ghia!
