Brooklyn Grange

Brooklyn Grange is a commercial organic farming business located on New York City rooftops. We grow vegetables in the city and sell them to local people and businesses. The goal is to improve access to very good food, to connect city people more closely to farms and food production, and to make urban farming a viable enterprise and livelihood. Our first farm is located at 37-18 Northern Boulevard, in Long Island City Queens. Our goal is to put more farms on roofs throughout New York and beyond, and grow more food, train and employ more farmers, and improve overall quality of life in the city. We want everyone to have the chance to not only consume the Grange's produce, but also to interact with it. Not only an active farm, Brooklyn Grange also offers volunteer and educational opportunities for all age groups. You can find our produce at weekly markets during the season. Market schedule: Long Island City WHEN: Wednesdays from 2:00pm – 7:00pm STARTING JUNE 1st WHERE: at the farm, 37-18 Northern Blvd at 38th St. Williamsburg - WHEN: Saturdays from 9:00am – 5:00pm STARTING MAY 21st WHERE: Brooklyn Flea Greenmarket , North 6th and Kent CSA: Our CSA members get a weekly bag of fresh seasonal produce from one or both of our two rooftop farms. From one week to the next you’ll get a variety of vegetables including greens, herbs, carrots, radishes, scallions, peppers, and of course our world-famous rooftop tomatoes. This year, our CSA distribution will begin in mid-May and continue through October, bringing you 24 weeks of fresh, seasonal produce! The cost of a subscription is $540, which breaks down to $22.50 per week. We are offering two locations for pickup of your share and ask that you choose one or the other and commit to that location for the season. 2012 Pickup locations and dates: LONG ISLAND CITY Wednesdays, May 16th through October 24th 1pm – 6pm Long Island City farm building lobby 37-18 Northern Blvd at 38th St WILLIAMSBURG Saturdays, May 19th through October 27th 10am – 4pm Smorgasburg Market N. 6th st at the waterfront Membership slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis for these two locations.
