More good news for lovers of good meat. Earlier this week, we wrote about Brooklyn Wok Shop – a ‘Chinese 2.0’ joint that recently opened in Williamsburg featuring only hormone and antibiotic-free meats.
Now some of the borough’s favorite pit masters are going ‘good.’ Craig Samuel and Ben Grossman, owners of Smoke Joint in Fort Greene, Peaches and Peaches HotHouse in Bed Stuy, have just opened Little Brother BBQ at Clinton and Atlantic in Clinton Hill, where they’re serving “slow-smoked, all-natural, antibiotic-free, hormone-free meats sourced and prepared with care,” and produce sourced from small local farms whenever possible. But don’t think this means pretension or high prices: snacks and sides are all $6 and under, and a barbecue chicken, beef, or pork sandwich is just $7.
Here’s the even more amazing thing: this is a barbecue joint where you can bring your vegetarian compadres. Veggie-friendly items are clearly marked on the menu, and there are quite a few of them (for a barbecue joint)–try the Big Veggie Plate with dirty rice, beans, vegetable pickles, and collards.
The space is small, but Little Brother is symbiotically located directly next door to auto-shop turned bar Hot Bird which welcomes outside food, so patrons have the option of taking their ‘que next door to enjoy it the proper way – with a cold brew.
