The dueling Eat Drink Local Week and NY Craft Beer Week will be playing nice with each other for a few hours on Governor’s Island on Saturday to host Pig Island – a pork love-fest featuring dishes made with meat from over 80 whole, local, sustainably-raised pigs from Violet Hill Farm, The Piggery, Mountain View Farm, Tamarack Hollow Farm and Flying Pigs Farm.
Over twenty chefs and farmers will be serving up their pork delectables in the idyllic surroundings of the island’s Colonel’s Row. You’ll find smoked pork, several styles of barbeque, porchetta sandwiches, Vietnamese pork soup, Brunswick stew, maple bacon sticky buns and lots more. See the full drool-inducing lineup here.
You’ll probably want a nice cold craft beer or a glass of New York state wine to pair with your feast. Happily, Sixpoint Craft Ales will be pouring their new Sehr Crisp Pilsner, Pumpkin Brewster, and Signal smoked ale, and there will be plenty of local wines for all.
Tickets are $85.
