We’re big fans of Liza de Guia’s Food Curated. Her video profiles of local artisanal food makers, farmers, fishermen and chefs bring Brooklyn’s food community to life in a way that’s always unique, compelling, and of course, fun. Apparently, we’re not the only ones who are big admirers of her work. Liza was recently nominated for a James Beard Award for outstanding work in food journalism…for the second straight year. Go Liza!
This week, Liza checks in with fellow James Beard nominee Fany Gerson, the chef and owner of DOUGH in Clinton Hill, where you will find some of the most drool-worthy artisanal donuts on the planet. Warning: Anyone susceptible to secondhand sugar highs, or binge face-stuffing, beware:
Of course, someone always has to ruin the fun. Apparently, not everyone is stoked about the James Beard awards. In his ever-subtle style, chef/author/buzzkill Anthony Bourdain derides the awards as a “goat rodeo,” and a “chef shakedown,” all while sipping cocktails on the Amalfi Coast, and Mario Batali high fives him via Twitter from a beach in the Virgin Islands. Ahhh…the good life. Sifton has the blow-by-blow at The Times.
