The Great Hot Dog Cookoff
The dog days of summer are here, so celebrate with the seventh annual edition of this all-American throwdown. Two dozen amateur teams will offer up their best recipes (past cookoffs have seen everything from hot dog-stuffed ravioli to an ice cream dessert dog) and for the first time this year, The Brooklyn Kitchen oversees a second competition between professional chefs from places like Marlow & Daughters, Mile End, and The Meat Hook. A standard ticket includes four Kelso beers and unlimited samples from the amateur cookoff and one sample from the professional component, or splurge for the “Super Weenie Experience” for samples of all the professional chefs’ dogs and unlimited beer. Proceeds from the event benefit the Food Bank for New York City. Read more and get tickets here.
