Meet at Flatbush Community Garden, where members will guide you through three different tutorials: DIY indoor gardening, backyard propagation, and creating elixirs from home-grown ingredients. How to Make Chinese Dumplings
Nona contributor, author, and home cook extraordinaire Cathy Erway shares her knowledge in this Skillshare class. You’ll learn to make dumpling dough from scratch; master two ways to fold the wrappers around fillings like classic pork, shrimp and chive, or seasonal zucchini, mint and feta; then finish them off with the traditional pan-frying technique. Summer Craft Beer Dinner
Brooklyn Brewery teams up with Williamsburg stalwart DuMont for a pairing dinner showc, asing the season’s best flavors. The five-course menu includes combos like pan-roasted scallop with heirloom tomatoes and summer corn, paired with Pennant Ale ’55 and East India Pale Ale, and crispy pork belly with pickled cabbage and mustard jus, paired with Local 2 and Sorachi Ace. Help Finger on the Pulse celebrate their fifth birthday at the latest installment of their popular summer ‘cues. Calling all carnivores! The ever-popular porkfest Pig Island descends upon Governors Island this Labor Day weekend. Among the lineup of notable chefs, you’ll find Dale Talde of Talde, Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo and Fort Reno, and George Weld and Evan Hanzcor of Egg and Parish Hall, each cooking up unique dishes featuring the event’s porcine namesake, sourced from local farms.
